Free and Open Source Software for Mac OS X is available as a DVD for $15 from participating Apple User Groups, including;
- AMUG Sydney
- Apple-MAQ/Lions Club
- AUSOM Incorporated
- BEAUT
- Bundy Mac User Group
- Byron Shire Mac User Group
- Central Victorian Macintosh Users Inc
- ClubMac
- Coffs Harbour Mac Users Group
- Geraldton Macintosh User Group
- Gold Coast Apple Users Group
- iMug
- MacTalk Hunter
- South Australian Apple Users Club
Many of these User Groups allow you to purchase the Discs of the Month from their meetings – often at a discount; or to order via the web, postal mail, fax or telephone.
A specially branded version of the Free and Open Source Software for Mac OS X DVD may also be collected, in person, free of charge, from selected Software Freedom Day events on Saturday, September 18, 2010.
Software Freedom Day – Special Edition
There are two versions of the FOSS for Mac OS X Disc Labels and Flyers. The versions with “(FREE)” in the file name are intended for use at Software Freedom Day events. They are virtually identical as the “regular” flyer and disc label, but instead of the $15 price on the flyer, it says “Free” and on the Disc Label the words “Open Source” in the star have been replaced with the word “Free”.
On the Disc itself, I have kept the “regular” version of the flyer with the $15 price tag. [Also, as per normal the standard Australian Apple User Groups flyer is included on the Disc]
If you are going to be participating in a Software Freedom Day event, then seriously consider printing the flyer out, as A3 sheets if possible, and stick them up so people can see the breadth of Free Software that is available for the Mac. Have some regular copies on hand as well for people to look at, but most importantly have plenty of copies of the Disc to hand out.
You may also want to consider having some copies of the following discs on hand to sell to people (and their accompanying flyers printed out so people can see what is on them too)… OR use them as an incentive to get people to join, perhaps using the idea of “Join today and select any two of these discs free of charge!”
Ultimate Collection Open Source Software CD’s (Oct 2007 & Sep 2008 DotMs)
If any User Group still has the original Ultimate Collection Open Source Software CD or the Ultimate Collection Open Source Software v2.0 CD listed in their Sales Catalogues or in their Online Stores, we recommend you retire those titles and replace them with the Free and Open Source Software for Mac OS X DVD.
