There has been recent discussions with a couple of groups looking for ideas for Raffle Prizes to help raise a few extra dollars, so here is the first installment of vendors who are willing to assist MUGs.

NCH Software

Obviously there is the the Australian MUG Exclusive I recently announced from NCH Software… In return for a published review of SwitchPlus on your website, to your mailing list or in your magazine, NCH will donate FIVE copies of SwitchPlus for use in raffles or as door prizes.

For the full details, see Review and Giveaway Copies of Switch Plus.

macProVideo.com sponsor MUG meetings with copies of their tutorials, in the form of a certificate that can be redeemed on atb the macPrVideo online store, to use as door prizes.

For more information email Gosia from macProVideo and include details about your MUG and website.

Take Control Books

Adam, Tonya and the crew over at TidBITS also produce the Take Control ebook series.

They provide MUGs with a free copy of each book right when they publish it and they encourage you to raffle it off at your next meeting, and if you want to give a copy to someone to review for the user group newsletter that’s fine too. They don’t go in for any copy prevention crud, so they ask that you please use your judgment when giving people copies. Winners should click the Check for Updates button in their ebooks to receive any free updates; they don’t need their names. You can also download a Take Control CD label if you want to make the raffled item a little snazzier.

A 10% off coupon code is also provided so that you can tell people about at the meeting and publish in your newsletter. You can download a PDF that you can print on business card stock for physical coupons you can hand out or print in your newsletter.

In return, they would appreciate it if you would announce each new book at your meetings in conjunction with telling people about the user group discount and pointing them to our Web site at http://www.takecontrolbooks.com/ Also, if you could put a note on your Web site and/or in the next newsletter announcing each book and telling readers about the user group discount.

Belight Software

Another great source of products to review for your Newsletter, Mailing List or Website is Belight Software.

Their product range includes Art Text, Disc Cover, Business Card Composer, Swift Publisher, Live Interior 3D, Image Tricks and MailFactory… many of these are also available in a bundle called Printfolio.

Then there is their brand new application, Get Backup, which I’m sure they’d love you all to review and publish it 😉

Belight have a well established User Group Program that allows groups to request a Review copy of their software… all they ask is the review is sent to them within 60 days of publication.

They also offer a 15% discount off their entire product range to User Group members as well as providing donations for door prizes and raffles.

Circus Ponies

Circus Ponies have a great relationship with User Groups and are happy to donate complimentary door prizes, raffle items, and other giveaways for your meetings.

Major Events

For more major events don’t forget the book publishers like O’Reilly and Peachpit are happy to assist with donations of relevant books.

Apple themselves have a method to request Apple promotional items for MAJOR events. The stock they can provide varies, as does the actual stock levels, so contact them well in advance if you want stuff.

Well these ideas should get you started on gathering a collection of Raffle Prizes ready for the new year.

I’ll have some more ideas for you soon and if you have any ideas of your own please let me know.
